Dimapur, Jan. 18: The Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held an interaction with the party’s candidates besides launching their election campaign on Wednesday, at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur.
Addressing the programme, the BJP unit’s president Visasolie Lhoungu, felicitated the 13 candidates from the party. He acknowledged them for taking the decision to take part in the forthcoming municipal and town elections.
Lhoungu said that the BJP was the largest political party in the world. He informed the party’s members that their central leaders were ‘happy’ to hear the news of 74 BJP candidates contesting for the municipal and town elections. That Dimapur was the gateway to Nagaland, the BJP president said, he is ‘happy to witness many dynamic leaders joining and making the party proud.’
If Dimapur–mini-India or mini-Nagaland–runs well, the rest of the districts will follow suit, he remarked.
The speaker also expressed appreciation to the central government for the demonetization of two denominations ‘to stop black money and putting an end of terrorist activities in the country.’
Also, he spoke about the Code of Conduct for the candidates ‘especially on money expenses to be taken care of and not to misuse them to buy votes.’
Several other BJP leaders who spoke during the programme called the BJP the ‘Bahadur Jawan Party and that the people should ‘give vote to those who can give you back.’ The BJP is the only hope to bringing changes and development, and employment, they asserted while asking the people to support the BJP and ‘help capture majority power by 2018.’
Another BJP leader, James Vizo, talked to the workers about party discipline and to keep their respective locality ‘the top priority if they win the elections.’ Requesting the party’s members to support each other and not to have ‘personal differences’ which, he cautioned, might become a hindrance in their performance later. He encouraged the workers not to lose hope but to work together to secure victory for the organization.
Also, in his address, HK Khulu, convenor, appealed to the citizens of Dimapur ‘not only who were present at the meeting but to every passerby even to the vegetable vendors outside’ to support the BJP to run the Dimapur municipality. He welcomed the candidates to the BJP saying that the party was ‘behind every religion and citizens of the country.’
Encouraging everyone to ‘see what the BJP has done for the entire nation,’ he encouraged them to ‘keep the same trust so that the party alone can take you to greater heights.’
