Kohima, Feb. 13 (EMN): As the state gears up for election, BJP national executive member, Johny G Rengma has exuded confidence that the people of Nagaland would be mature enough to subscribe to the calling of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rengma, who is also the non official director of National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC), Government of India, expressed confidence that the BJP would be in the government.
“Nagas have full faith in Modi-led NDA government. BJP is committed to fulfil its commitment on the decades-long Naga political issue,” Rengma said adding that the wishes and desire of Naga people would be heard and taken into consideration by the central government.
Stating that the ensuing assembly election is also for solution, Rengma urged all citizens of the state to participate in the elections.
“We are very privileged to have the elections. And this is the time our people are enjoying the festival of democracy,” he said maintaining that “the state government is the guardian of the people.”
As for the NDPP-BJP alliance, though admitting that it’s a bit little early to predict, Rengma was hopeful that the alliance would emerged victorious in the forthcoming election.
Asked on whether Rio’s charisma would have an impact on the alliance, he attributed the three-time chief minister and MP Lok Sabha as one of the tallest leaders in the state, who also earns respect at the centre. He added that Rio’s popularity would boost the confidence of the NDPP-BJP alliance.
On the accusations raised by churches and organisations against BJP for its Hindutva policies, Rengma said that such accusations should be avoided as India would always remain a secular country
“India is a secular country. Non-secular leaders cannot be leaders of this country,” he added.
On matters concerning NSTFDC, Rengma assured to render his best to facilitate new opportunities for the people, particularly the youth.
“The NSTFDC was formed during the Vajpayee government but was thoroughly neglected during the UPA regime. He said Modi-led NDA government had revived the NSTFDC.
He urged the citizens of Nagaland to support the Modi-led government so as to usher in a new era of progress and prosperity.
