Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): BJP national general secretary (Org) Ramlal has reiterated that BJP is purely a political party bearing true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as established by law and to the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy adding the party would uphold the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.
Clarifying the misconception that BJP is against Christian/ minority/ tribal etc., Ramlal said those were all engineered by some vested- interested section/ group of people with an ulterior motive to stop the growth of BJP.Ramlal said this in his addressing at the recent meeting of booth level committees in Dimapur. Stating that BJP’s main agenda is to deliver development agenda, he called upon the workers to disseminate the right message to the grassroots people.
Citing few instances, Ramlal said out of 40 seats in Goa legislative assembly, BJP has 13 MLAs and 7 Christian MLAs, highest number of Christian lawmakers since the State poll were first held in 1963. He added that the Deputy chief minister Francis D’souza is a Christian. He said Christians constitute 25% population and Hindu 65% in Goa.
In the case of union minister of tourism, Ramlal said Alphons Joseph Kannanthanam is a Christian hailing from Kerala who was accommodated a Rajya Sabya seat from Rajasthan. He also pointed out that despite being from a Congress background, Governor of Odisha SC Jamir, who is a Christian, still continues in NDA era under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While recalling the past during the regime of Atal Behari Vajpayee, Ramlal stated that PC Alexander, who is a Christian, was proposed by BJP under Vajpayee- era for the post of President of India but Congress refused to support.
He, therefore, said the question of BJP against the Christians does not arise. He said the party stands on “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (all inclusive growth) for all round development and aims in establishing a democratic state which guarantee to all citizens irrespective of caste, creed or sex, political, social and economic justice, equality of opportunity and liberty (freedom) of faith and expression.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland State BJP Unit has reminded all the district and Mandal presidents to complete their booth-level committees by the end of November as the party high command has directed the State unit to launch the “Karyakarta Sammelan” by first week of December.
The recent routine visit of the national general secretary (Org) Ramlal was to strengthen the State level to district-mandal and booth-level committees. He has directed all district in- charges and State officials to conduct tour in order to monitor and coordinate with the booth level committees process.
