Kohima, Nov. 14 (EMN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda on Monday said the Narendra Modi government is focused on the empowerment of women, while citing the election of S Phangnon Konyak, the first woman MP (Rajya Sabha) from Nagaland.
Nadda was addressing the inauguration of the Nagaland BJP state office building at Kohima virtually on Monday evening.
He said that there are about 3.3 lakh people in Nagaland with primary membership and challenged the people to expand their ideology base and increase membership of the party.
He invited the people to join the party prosperity, progress and unity as the party ‘believes in sacrificing for the cause of the people’.
In his address to the gathering, Nadda said the office is a place to dedicate oneself for the people of the state and the Northeast through the 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas', adding that the BJP is on the fore of the Northeast India.
He informed that 237 party offices have been completed across the country while many others are under construction.
Nadda told the party workers that they are the image of the party, while activities, programmes and policies are its reflection. He also stressed on the need for having a good research work, advised the public on ideology and access information that can help reach out to the people.
He stated that BJP believes in inclusivity, service, social work and issues related to the environment, adding that it has risen to the occasion even in times of the pandemic by reaching out to the people through 'seva hi sangathan'.
Nadda said the ideological journey of the party started in 1950s and has consistently kept its ideology over the last 71 years and remains committed to nation building.
He also asserted that the party believes in good governance and development.
Further, he reiterated the developmental works and various initiatives taken up by the government over the years -- peace accord in the Northeast region, policy in education sector, health infrastructure and improvement in health, connectivity in terms of road, highways, railways and airways through double engine government.
Meanwhile, Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH, stressed on the need to make India a self-reliant nation by 2040 and called for efforts and participation of the people.
He also expounded the slogan for working with 'everyone's support, everyone's development and now everyone's trust' (Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas) for empowering people, development and peace in the country.
Sonowal also maintained that under the leadership of Modi, the Northeast India is progressing along with the rest of the nation, adding that the BJP at the Centre is working for inclusiveness and has become one of the most powerful nations in the world.
Sambit Patra, National Spokesperson and Coordinator, Northeast states; and Shiv Prakash, National Joint General Secretary (Org.) also spoke on the occasion.
BJP State President, Temjen Imna Along, while delivering the welcome address, said it was a momentous day facilitated through the support of the national leadership.
A brief report on the construction of the office was also presented by Nini Cheng, state co-chief spokesperson, vote of thanks was presented by Kevidezo Peter Rutsa.
