
Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): BJP national ST Morcha president and Rajya Sabha MP, Sameer Oraon said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has brought the tribal community of India to the ‘socio-economic and political forefront of the country’.
Oraon was speaking as the special guest at the executive meeting of the BJP ST Morcha, Nagaland state unit held at Hotel Japu on April 16.
He said that since 2003, BJP has worked for the welfare of the tribal community, an update stated. He further claimed that 12.5 million tribal people in the country are now in the political and economic forefront of the country.
Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, while speaking at the programme, lauded the ST Morcha, Nagaland unit for being at the forefront in the service of the people. He congratulated the ST Morcha for their humanitarian works especially during 2020 and 2021. He said that the good works rendered by the BJP ST Morcha all over the state would always be appreciated by the BJP and the people as a whole, it said.
Meanwhile, President of ST Morcha, Nagaland state unit, Awan Konyak, said that the ST Morcha BJP is often considered as the ‘light brigade’ where the karyakartas render help in every way possible for the welfare of the people. She said that the BJP in Nagaland is making ‘path breaking moves’ where the party fielded and elected the first Naga woman MP as a member to Rajya Sabha. She further said that the ST Morcha will always endeavor for the rights and welfare of the Naga people.
