WITH BJP winning 31 Schedule Tribe seats and 2 from the unrecognized tribal community during the 2014 Lok Sabha election, National Vice President of the BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha Johny G Rengma has stated that for the first time in the history of Indian parliamentary election one single party (BJP) has received the support of the tribal people of India.
Johny Rengma highlighted with the fact that Narendra Modi led India government is accessing the entire road map of how to resolve the long pending Naga political problem which has always been the major issue in the state.
Johny Rengma noted that Nagas under Modi led government has an added advantage where Nagas are 100 percent ST as the development of tribal areas in the country is a priority in the policy of governance under.
Expressing tribal people as the flowers of the country, Johny Rengma while interacting with the press people stated that since independent India excepting the brief period of India government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee all through, congress party ruled the country where the tribal problems with the tribal communities have always been an issue. Johny Rengma noted that ‘since no government programs were given to the tribal communities except for lip services, we continued to remain backward,’ wherein the tribal communities were utilized as an entertainer during any function or important programs.
In contrast to the then government, Johny Rengma expressed that Narendra Modi led NDA government has implemented policy programs for not only development of the tribal areas but to elevate the living standard of the tribal people of India.
He also noted that the BJP led NDA government will extend all possible help to the TR Zeliang led DAN government in the state to bring peace and development. When asked about state government liabilities, Johny Rengma assuring cure towards the financial health of the state replied that despite 13 finance commission and earlier years inherited liabilities which has contributed to the present fiscal deficit of the state, the party has full confidence that maintenance of financial discipline will be improved under the leadership of TR Zelang adding to which he also noted that the central government has seriously taken note of the financial crisis which has been brought to notice to the union government.
Johny Rengma on query about whether the NCP issue was a merger or a defection, he noted that BJP never interfere other political party affair and hence accepted them and stated ‘ we will respect and welcome the speaker’s any decision delivered because we respect the speaker office as a neutral party.’
Rengma along with other members of the party is said to have an executive meeting on July 19 and July 20 at Ranchi where in the problem faced by the tribal community of India will be the agenda of discussion through which policy programs will be formulated to the union government.
