Imphal, April 6 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led coalition government in the state will have stability and it will last long.
Soon after new government took the charge, we have started many initiatives including road repairing works to erase the poth holes in the state capital and other hill district headquarters in the last 10-15 days, Biren said while speaking at the 37th foundation day of the BJP at its party office here.BJP(21) led government is supported by National People’s Party(4),Naga People’s Front(4), Lokjansakti(1),Independent(1),Trinamool(1) and Congress(1) in 60 member house.
The government have started referring some complains cases out of 300-400 cases which were received through the recently established anti—corruption cell to the concerned police stations of the respective districts for further steps.
In fact we’ve sleepless night from the day we assume the charge to fulfil the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances (including lifting of blockade within 48 hours if the BJP comes to power) during his election rally in Imphal on February 25 this year, he said. Fortunately the blockade was lifted 24 hrs after the council of ministers took oath. Thanks to Naga brothers including the UNC functionaries, he added. “Now the government is planning to resolve the Churachandpur issue. We got a reply yesterday, so we hope that things will be sorted soon,” he informed. Highlighting the importance of addressing the public grievances across the state, he expressed the need to strengthen the trust shared by the civil society organizations leaders from hills including those from Senapati and hill based journalists. He also reminded that a reception function is scheduled to be held in Ukhrul on April 11.
Informing that his government want to give respect to the pensioners who had served the people,he said we’re also trying to formulate a new mechanism to provide pensions directly to the respective pensioners’ accounts.
On the other hand lauding the effort of the party elders and workers for the tremendous support and activities during the last assembly elections, he said “I am like the fruit and the people gathered here are the cultivators of this fruit bearing tree.So I will not forget their efforts.”
“Now the change has arrived in Manipur. I will fully dedicate for the welfare of the people in the state as I will work selflessly for the betterment of the masses,”he added.
BJP Manipur Pradesh President K Bhabananda also expressed the need to coordinate and support the government from the party level by giving positive inputs besides preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2019.
Party’s general secretary and Works Minister Th Biswajit also spoke on the occasion while former Union sports minister Th Chaoba also shared a similar sentiment. Former BJP Manipur unit presidents M Bhorot, Sh Shantikumar, H Borababu besides senior leaders were also honoured during the day’s foundation day observation.
