Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): Nagaland Congress has accused the regional parties of Nagaland particularly Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF) of bestowing enough strength and power to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) thereby endangering the future of tribals and minorities especially on freedom of religion.
“As tribals, we are too simple, too short sighted, too short tempered, lack tolerance and patience, cannot remember the past and cannot see the future. We forget history and even our ancestors for temporary gains, temporary pleasure and temporary riches. We talk of our rights without understanding the other side of the coin,” NPCC president K Therie stated on Sunday.
He has accused the BJP of having its own dream of communal nationalism stating that it was Hindustan with on language- Hindi and one religion Hinduism for them.
Stating that tribal people do not fit in the RSS/BJP’s idea of nationalism, Therie has stressed on need for freedom of religion saying, “We cannot compromise our identity, culture, customs and social practices.”
He further stated that BJP contesting solo in Manipur was a big challenge to secular like-minded voters.
