BJP celebrates Delhi election victory in Dimapur

- DIMAPUR — Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) Dimapur celebrated the party’s victory in the Delhi
elections on Monday at the BJP office in Dimapur.
- While interacting with media personnel, BJP District
President of Dimapur, V Shekishe Achumi, described it as a monumental day for
the party across India and stated that it is a significant occasion not only at
the national level but also for Nagaland.
- When asked whether the Delhi poll results would serve as a
boost for the party in the state, he said that he is optimistic and mentioned
that Delhi is often regarded as the stronghold and power centre for any
political party; therefore, with the BJP at the helm of affairs in the Delhi
Legislative Assembly and within the corridors of power, he believes it will
undoubtedly strengthen the party’s image and enhance its prospects in the days
ahead.
- When asked whether the BJP's membership drive would continue
despite its official end, the president responded that the party's membership
would continue to grow in the coming days.
- When asked about the BJP's expectations for the next
election in Nagaland, Achumi stated that the party is currently in power
through its alliance with the NDPP and does not operate independently; however,
he said that the party’s top leadership is focused on strengthening its
position.
- He added that there is growing speculation that the BJP will
eventually gain power in Nagaland on its own.
- The president of BJP Dimapur-I Mandal, LR Anthony, also
stated that the party remains committed to its alliance, emphasising that BJP
has never gone back on a pre-poll alliance in its history and mentioned that
even in major states where the BJP secured power independently, it never
abandoned its pre-poll allies.
