Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee President K.Therie today declared that State Congress will uphold the 10-point-modalities achieved by its founding members and it will also continue its endeavour to solve the Naga political problem.
Addressing a public meeting at Phek town, PCC president said, the Congress party in Nagaland has inherited rich achievements such as Article 371 A which the founding members have achieved for the people of Nagaland that has protected their interest in being the most independent state of India.
“NPCC have agreed with Indira Gandhi in presence of A.R. Antulay, General Secretary AICC on 12th October 1978. As part of 10-point-modalities, the Congress shall continue to uphold the principle of regional in content and national in outlook while elaborating that the Congress will continue its endeavour to solve the Naga political problem through peaceful and constitutional means.”
He also said, Naga political struggle has achieved more than 75 percent of aspiration as today Nagaland has its own state assembly. “We should not feel that we have not achieved anything yet.”
Observing the poor road condition in Phek district, he said, “I have not been to some of the areas in Phek over the last 10 years, but today I travelled back by the same British road.”
Expressing concern over the rise of BJP, he said, the nation is under serious threat since all its party workers in the national level are RSS cadres. “Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, founder member of RSS adopted the concept of racial purity from Adolf Hitler. In a land of Hindu majority, the BJP believes that it should rule so as to impose the sentiments of majority on minority.
The religion intolerance that has gripped the country after the BJP came to power has invited anger and backlash from the people as was shown in recent Delhi assembly election. US President Barak Obama’s observation during his visit to India, quote “India will only succeed, if it does not split along the lines of religion” speaks volumes on behalf of entire global population.”
Explaining that Christians and Muslims compose over 55 percent of the world population that has absolute presence in majority of the nations, he said, it will be difficult for any Christian or Muslim nation to invest in India.
Touching on the recent issue of BJP government scrapping the special category status to states like Nagaland, he said, BJP government blaming the 14th Finance Commission will not convince anyone.
“One can clearly see what BJP has done for the NE states within one year of its rule. It has not done anything for the people as yet. They are busy for the rich and have no time for the poor.”
Therie wondered as to why NPF-led DAN government is inclined towards BJP despite its open discrimination of minorities and NE states.
He appealed to the people to show both NPF and BJP that they do not accept the activities of the BJP that brought more harm than good.
