The eight-edition of the Music Awards of Nagaland is all set for December. The honors have transformed into a much bigger and better platform. New formats of judging and a new category of awards have been introduced for the year’s event, a brainchild of Native Trax Society.
The organizers announced the year’s event at a press conference on Tuesday, October 4 at Cine-scope, a videography and photography studio at Duncan Basti in Dimapur.
The awards were instituted in 2009 to acknowledge local artistes and music every year for their artistry. However, this year’s edition has been altered–unlike the past years’ judging format, there will be no entry fee for nominees. Likewise, there will be no voting via voting cards—which is a relied for artistes.
Explaining a category, ‘Song of the year’, the organiser said that it would go to the nomination that secures the highest points based on ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ on the Music Awards of Nagaland’s Facebook page and number of views on the MAN YouTube channel. The new category of award announced for this year is ‘Best Songwriter/lyricist’.
Video or audio entries that have been submitted will be screened. Those found not up to the mark will be, of course, rejected. They also informed that the previous year’s nominees can apply for the year’s event too but only with new work recorded in 2016.
Calling for entries to the music awards, the organisers informed that original compositions recorded (video and audio) within Nagaland both by Naga or non-Naga in English, Hindi, Nagamese or any local dialect and released anytime from January 1, 2016 are eligible.
The last date for submission of entries is October 31, 2016.
The entry form can be downloaded from Music Awards of Nagaland’s Facebook page or can be obtained from the Native Trax Society’s office located at NST colony, Circular Road, in Dimapur.
The completed entry form, audio song/music video (or the audio/video link), lyrics photos and profiles can be emailed to musicnagaland@gmail.com.
Entries are also accepted via Whatsapp on 9089409715 or 8118915560.
