Personnel of Kohima district police have on Thursday landed a substantial cache of banned drugs, more than 20, 000 tablets of a banned drug, and have arrested two persons in this connection. The police establishment issued a note on Thursday informing of the catch. On April 30, at around 3:20 AM, personnel of the Kohima police manning Peducha check gate were conducting routine checking when they stopped an unregistered truck, a tipper, (chassis MAT449019F2C05331, engine B591803251C63431590).
The authorities said the personnel on duty recovered 24,000 tablets and capsules of the banned drug Spasmo Proxyvon. Two persons have been arrested by the police. The accused have been identified as one Mohammad Abdul Gani, 33 years, of Lilong Turel Ahanbi village Thoubal district of Manipur, and a Syed Islao Rahaman, 33 years, of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai village, also of Thoubal district of Manipur.
They have been arrested on charges of possessing and transporting banned drugs.
