Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): Officials of the Bhandari subdivision in Wokha district met on October 16 in the office of the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Bhandari, during which they discussed various issues related to water resources and of encroachment of government lands, among other issues.
The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates on Wednesday informing about the meeting.
Highlighting the recent proposed visit to Bhandari village, ADC Tiameren Chang said all-weather road connectivity, water supply, healthcare and school facilities in the village need to be taken into consideration. He requested some of the officials in the meeting to do the needful from their department’s capacity.
Officials of the PHE department, while giving a presentation on its activities, reported that the department had helped in improving public sanitation, and that problems of water shortage had been addressed to an extent. The officials urged the public to use water from gravity sources rather than from pump sources for cost-effectiveness.
Also, the officials discussed the possibility of effective rain water harvesting methods which would be helpful for people of the hill villages in the sub division.
Matters related to encroachment into government areas were also discussed. It is a must for every department to obtain and maintain official land deeds for their respective departments, the ADC told the officials, the IPR stated.
In other matters, the officials approved that the Bhandari officers’ forum will have a feast on November 6 during celebrations of the Tokhü Emong, the premier festival of the Lotha Naga people.
Wednesdays have been designated "Traditional dress day" for Bhandari sub division, the updates stated. All the officers attended the meeting in traditional attires, the IPR informed.
