Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): The Bhandari administration, in Wokha district, convened a meeting with community organisations, school institutions, church leaders and landowners, on April 30 in the town hall of Bhandari to discuss development issues.
The additional deputy commissioner of Bhandari was stated to have convened the meeting the purpose for which was to ‘find better ways and to encourage cooperation between the land donors and the government departments...’
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates about the meeting.
The IPR quoted a leader of the Bhandari Town Land Owners Union who was stated to have said that the main objective of the meeting was to “find better ways and to encourage cooperation between the land donors and the government departments to beautify and initiate all round development of the administrative headquarter Bhandari, with consorted effort of all concern.”
While calling on the heads of departments to review and retrospect on their performance in delivering services to the public, he stated that no government department or employee was ‘encouraged to transfer from the sub division along with their service post.’ The union member added that such cases shall not be entertained, the updates added.
Members of the Lotha Lower Range Public Organization are also said to have requested the departmental heads to ‘furnish the present employee status, the condition and state of the office buildings on which the departments are functioning and the state of their physical infrastructure etc.’
The organisation is stated to have iterated that the request was for ‘the purpose of further cooperation for developmental initiatives for the administrative head quarter in particular and the sub division as a whole.’ The people of Bhandari are always ready to continue to donate land at their disposal whenever ‘necessary,’ the organisation told those in the meeting.
Concerns about roads in school areas in Bhandari were also discussed during the meeting, the IPR stated. An official of the Don Bosco higher secondary school at Bhandari was stated to have opined that the “public motor road which presently ply through the premises of the school compound, if diverted, will be helpful as it is not very secure for the school.”
Likewise, the child development project establishment at Bhandari was stated to have expressed the need for land for the CDPO’s office building.
The meeting also upheld the ban on ‘destruction’ of forest; and on hunting and fishing with chemicals. It is still in force within Bhandari jurisdiction, the updates stated.
