It is reasonably rare for public agencies in Nagaland to actually undertake public development works, but the recent surge in interest to at least see to the roads have brought a measure of accolades for the Dimapur Municipal Council. However, besides that, the council has decided to engaged in a another event of a different kind – vaccination.
The Veterinary Public Health Cell of the Dimapur Municipal Council conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination and healthcare programme on Saturday in the district sports complex in Dimapur on March 21.Speaking during the programme, administrator of the Dimapur Municipal Council H Atokhe Aye spoke about the importance of ensuring the wellbeing of pets. “If you domestic pets, then it is also important to take care of their health and take all precautionary measures such as vaccinating them from various diseases,” he told animal lovers who had gathered to avail the opportunity provided by the council.
One of the veterinary personnel overseeing the event, Dr. Inato, also spoke. He urged pet lovers to vaccinate their pets against rabies as there was no cure once humans get affected by it.
Besides vaccination for dogs, the council provided treatment for various other ailments for other animals. The veterinary health cell distributed free vitamins and other medicines for animals during the event.
