Team to raise funds and help the people who have been affected by landslide and flood in Nagaland
KOHIMA, AUG. 13 (EMN) — ‘Queens for a Cause’ project, initiated by the Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) was launched by Theja Meru, chairman of TaFMA, on Thursday at Symphony Cafe, Kohima, under the theme “One sisterhood. Many voices. One Purpose. Building a community of Beauty Queens for meaningful Social Impact".
During the launching programme it was informed that there are 20 queens under this project at present.
Mele Pucho, president of BASN shared that the concept behind this project is a community building initiative exclusively for women who have earned the distinction of becoming Miss Nagaland title holders or runners-up under BASN.
More than an alumni network, he said that it is a movement that keeps these queens actively engaged in society using their influence, visibility and leadership to champion causes, mentor future contestants, and collectively advocate for issues affecting the people of Nagaland.
He shared that their vision is to build a united community of Miss Nagaland queens who continue to inspire positive change through leadership, compassion, advocacy and service, adding that ‘Queens for a Cause’ is a reaffirmation that becoming Miss Nagaland is not merely about winning the crown, but is about embracing a lifelong commitment to leadership, compassion and service.
Through this initiative of the BASN, he stated that the project will bring together the past, the present and the future Miss Nagaland winners and runners-up into a united community that will continue to make a meaningful difference long after their reign, citing that each queen will contribute their unique voice to causes that will uplift individuals and communities across Nagaland.
He also shared that this is not a one-time initiative but will continue and become a legacy of Miss Nagaland pageant, sharing that the cause will differ every year.
For this year, he shared that that many people have been affected by landslides and floods all over the district, especially in Mon, Tuensang, Mokokchung, and other parts of Nagaland as well. So they felt the need to use the social media platform and come forward to create awareness and to be a helping hand to the society. So through the queens they are going to do a very small initiative to raise some funds and help the people who have been affected by this landslide and flood.
Theja Meru, chairman of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Nagaland in his short speech shared that fame opens doors and makes one more credible and broaden audience space for them to truly inspire others.
He reminded that being famous is a joy but it also comes with a lot of responsibilities. He believes that the queens will do well in this project and assured them that the department will continue to work together and amplify what they do.
