Kohima, Dec. 28 (EMN): The Longpayimsen Students’ Union (LSU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee with Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher and Technical Education, as the special guest.
In his speech, Imna Along lauded the pioneers of the LSU for bearing the torch through the formative years of its existence (which was formed in 1968). He said that time has come for the present generation to become a generation of trendsetters.
Stating that ‘we are living in a society with many educated unemployed youths,’ he encouraged the students to make good use of their education and focus more on self employment and self sustenance instead of staying idle, seek backdoor appointments or rely on government jobs.
Imna Along expressed his gratitude to the student community for having him as the special guest of the event and said that “it is very important to maintain consistency in our pursuance for excellence, while maintaining humility, yet keeping focus on the set target and the goals in our lives.”
Earlier, the Minister unveiled the Jubilee stone.
