Kohima, June 18 (EMN): Baptist College in Kohima has organised an orientation programme on ‘Choice based credit system’ for undergraduate students held at the college premises on June 17.
The programme was organised by CBCS board, in collaboration with IQAC of Baptist College for the teachers of the college, an update from the college stated.
The programme began with a short introduction by Kezhalelhou Zatsu, IQAC coordinator, followed with a speech by the college’s principal, Dr. Kekuchol Pusa, wherein he expressed the need to equip with more knowledge about the newly introduced system so that the career of students are not put in jeopardy even as they pursue different courses of study.
The resource persons namely Dr. Seyiekhrielie Whiso, associate professor of English department at Kohima Science College, and Dr. Daniel Kibami, assistant professor of Chemistry at Kohima Science College, have apprised the teachers on the new system.
Dr. Seyiekhrielie Whiso spoke in detail on the "Salient features and course structure of CBCS" of both honours and regular course, comprising of core papers, ability enhancement compulsory courses, generic elective courses and skill enhancement courses, particularly mentioning that skill enhancement courses should be focused on increasing students' employability through inclusion of practical components.
Dr. Daniel Kibami apprised the members on "Staff, infrastructural requirements and routine making" by focusing on the required contact hours for each course as per the recommendation of UGC and the strength of teachers and classrooms required for effective execution of the teaching learning process in the new system.
It was followed by an extensive discussion on topics related to the system.
IQAC coordinator, Vincent Kent, pronounced the vote of thanks, while Dr. Tsenbeni, member secretary of CBCS board, was the rapporteur of the day.
Altogether, 27 faculty members of the college attended the programme.
