iOS users may have to wait for a while. Again!
Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): After months of teaser trailers and speculation, PUBG Mobile publisher Krafton has finally launched Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a custom version of the hugely popular PUBG Mobile battle royale game for India, on Friday.
However, the game will be available for Android users only and there has been no official comment by Krafton on the release date for the iOS version.
Krafton made the announcement via a trailer and blog post on its official website.
“We at Krafton are delighted to introduce Battlegrounds Mobile India for our fans in India today. Designed exclusively for our Indian fans and gamers, Battlegrounds Mobile India will provide a superlative gaming experience. This is just the beginning of a series of new content, collaborations and esports tournaments coming your way, and we will strive to ensure that our fans and community in India can fully enjoy the battlegrounds experiences.” wrote CH Kim, CEO of Krafton, in the blog post.
Battlegrounds Mobile India had initially gone live for pre-registration on Google Play on May 18 and the game's early access went live on June 17.
Krafton says that Battlegrounds Mobile India had secured 40 million pre-registrations and the early access "saw incredible support from the community with 20 million players trying out the game and providing valuable feedback."
The return of the game under a new moniker along with updated gameplay, microtransactions and effects confirms that Krafton has designed it exclusively for the Indian player base and to meet the Indian government's policies.
The game appears to be identical to the original version, however, BGMI players will not be able to play with global PUBG Mobile players since it is hosted on a different server.
Krafton has announced the minimum requirements for BGMI on the Android platform.
