WOKHA — The Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship conducted the valedictory programme of a seven-day basic steel fabrication training under the "PACES – Providing Access to Core Employability Skills" initiative at the Community Hall, Wokha village, on Tuesday.
According to an update, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe attended the occasion as the special guest.
Altogether 25 trainees from Humtso, Elumyo and Wokha villages attended the training, which aimed at equipping local youth with practical, income-generating skills to promote self-employment and small-scale enterprises.
Addressing the gathering, Humtsoe urged the trainees to embrace teamwork and foster a culture of collective growth. He observed that reliance on government jobs is gradually fading as the sector has become saturated and encouraged youth to explore skill-based livelihoods with confidence and dignity.

He further called upon the trainees to be innovative, disciplined and committed in applying the skills acquired, while stressing the importance of unity and group efforts for greater success.
Humtsoe also advised the youth to start small but remain consistent, stating that modest beginnings could grow into sustainable enterprises. He expressed hope that the trainees would not only become self-reliant but also create employment opportunities for others.
He appealed to counsellors and officials to identify genuinely interested unemployed youth who are unable to access such programmes and assured support wherever possible.
Speaking on behalf of the training partner, Richard Belho, Chief Executive Officer of Zynorique Initiative Society, said the programme was initiated through the MLA’s efforts and was part of limited training for 100 participants.
He highlighted the income potential in the construction sector and urged trainees to make effective use of the opportunity, adding that advanced-level training with improved machinery could follow.
Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao, Additional Director, informed that Nagaland received 100 training slots across four districts. He noted that the mobile skill morung concept was an initiative of the department and has received appreciation at the national level.
He also commended the trainees, mentioning that the lone female participant performed exceptionally well with innovative ideas.
The programme concluded with the distribution of tools and certificates to the trainees.
