The three days annual sports meet of Baptist High Kohima got underway on March 21 at D Khel ground, Seikhazou Kohima with Menukhol John, Commissioner Secretary Youth Resources and Sports as the special guest of the inaugural programme.
Speaking the programme, Menukhol John, who is one of the past pupil of the school has emphasized on the importance of games and sports which not only keeps one healthy and fit but instill a spirit of competition and discipline. He also advised the students’ community to learn and develop a healthy lifestyle from young age, and at the same urged them to give their best in the studies as well so inorder to be somebody whom people can look up to in the future.Earlier the programme chaired by Vikehienuo started off with an invocation prayer offered by Chumchano, Headmistress, welcome address delivered by Keviseto, Principal and special song presented by class-VII students.
PH Shesou, Convenor Sports Committee administered the oath taking followed by lighting of torch by the special guest who also declared open the sports meet.
Various items of games and sports to be played includes basketball, football, volleyball, long jump, kho-kho race, passing the egg, fill the bottles, pass the bangle, pass the ball besides others.
