annual literary day of Baptist College, Kohima, themed "Exploring art
forms through experiential learning", was held on February 15 at the
college premises in collaboration with the Art and Culture Department.
- According to an update, the event featured workshops on
various topics and a painting/sketching competition.
- A workshop on "Exploring museums" introduced the
concept of museums and their transition over the years, highlighting important
aspects and different types of museums. The session focused on exploring the
Nagaland State Museum, located at Bayavu, Kohima, and operated by the Art and
Culture department.
- The workshop on "Creative writing" focused on the
key elements of creating a creative framework for writing, exploring underlying
features such as death, honesty, time frame, silence, character development,
writing between the lines, and drafting.
- The workshop on "Basics of poetry writing" was
conducted to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of poetry.
A panel discussion on "How to debate" was organised, emphasising how
to present strong and effective arguments. The panellists shared the
significance of preparedness, effective communication, respect, and the ability
to logically analyse arguments supported by facts.
- A workshop on "Learning about archives" aimed to
educate students on the significance of archives and their role in preserving
historical records.
- In the painting/sketching competition, Ruokuolezo Rüpreo,
second semester, Political Science department, Sechü Campus, claimed the first
position, followed by Huvolu Puro, fourth semester, Commerce department, in
second, and Puhiu P., sixth semester, History department, in third.
- A total of 25 students participated in the
painting/sketching competition.
