Assam-based Eastern Beats Music Society, a cultural non-profit working for promotion of Northeast culture and establishment of new vistas with other countries, has announced the launch of a ‘pan-Asian music project’ they have named the ‘Rhythms and Aromas of Northeast India.’
An update from the ‘Rhythms and Aromas of Northeast India’ organisers on Saturday informed that the project is being held with the support of the North Eastern Council. Preliminary auditions will be held across the entire states of Northeast India to select bands “who have the potential to shine in the international arena.”
“The selected bands will undergo extensive grooming and nurturing sessions after which they will perform with veteran bands of Asian countries as part of the 4th Guwahati International Music Festival,” the updates stated.
The eight states of Northeast India are divided into four groups: Nagaland and Assam are in group-2 and the auditions will be held at Howey Jungle, Nihoto Iralibil Road in Dimapur in Nagaland on December 27.
The auditions will be coordinated by Naga musicians Moa Subong and Arenla Subong of the band Abiogenesis.
“Bands from Nagaland are requested to apply for the auditions and get the chance to get selected for the further stages of the festival. Interested bands may apply by looking at the website for the festival: www.easternbeats.assam.org,” the updates stated.
