The indefinite bandh called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC)against the brutal killing of Konsam Korounganba has called off following an understanding with the state government.Reports available here said that the understanding has been reached after second round of talk with the government authority last evening.The first round of talk was held on Tuesday but it failed to reach the understanding.
In their second round of talk with the government held last evening at the Chief Minister’s secretariat along with Deputy Chief minister and local MLA Dr Ng Bijoy with the Chief minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair.
The report further said that the government has assured that the demands of the JAC will be fulfilled as per the agreement.
The involved police personnel was suspended while those responsible for giving orders were also transferred besides assuring that the government will provide an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh and a government job to the next kin of the victim’s family.
It also agreed to release three youths who were arrested by the Lamlai police personnel on the day of the incident(May 17) without any condition.
Later in the evening JAC functionaries made an announcement in and around the Khurai area that the indefinite bandh has been called off by using load speakers.
