Diphu, May 7 (EMN):
A delegation of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Friday visited Tilla Bosti in Karbi Anglong, Assam-Nagaland border, to take stock of the situation after learning about a bamboo barricade being reportedly erected by the Nagaland police.

KAAC executive member and in-charge of Land & Revenue, Amarsing Tisso told journalists on Friday that KAAC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang had directed them to visit Tilla Bosti following reports of a bamboo barricade being installed by Nagaland police in the name of Covid-19 in an area that falls under the jurisdiction of Karbi Anglong.

He informed that the deputy commissioners of Karbi Anglong and Dimapur had a meeting in this regard and that the barricade would be removed within 3-4 days or a maximum of seven days.

‘We have not occupied an inch of land belonging to Nagaland, likewise Nagaland should not occupy even an inch of land of Karbi Anglong (Assam). Tilla bosti is under Karbi Anglong, Tisso said.

He went on to say that eviction drive would be carried out if there is any illegal encroachment inside Karbi Anglong forest. But if it is inside revenue land by means of purchase or gift, he said Nagas can buy land in Karbi Anglong just as Karbis can purchase land in Nagaland. If the land falls under the jurisdiction of Karbi Anglong, all the official norms should be followed under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council or Assam government he continued.

The delegation included Assam police, president of Karbi Students' Association and leaders of civil society organisations besides KAAC executives.
