Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): Food safety team along with officials from Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) detected selling of food products which had exceeded the best before date from one M/S Best Bakery owned by Anam Uddin located at PR Hill during a joint inspection on October 11.
Informing this in a press release, Dr. Ritu Thurr, chief medical office and food safety designated officer, stated that the food products were seized and Form II was served under Food Safety & Standards Rule 2.3.1 to the proprietor.
For offence committed under Section 27 (3) (a) of the Food Safety & Standards Act 2006, written consent under Section 36 (e) of the Food Safety & Standards Act 2006 was given to the Food Safety Officer to initiate legal prosecution against the proprietor, Thurr stated.
Dr. Thurr has directed all food business operators in Kohima to be aware and check their products to avoid legal complications. He added that the team would conduct periodical checking on the manufacturing date and best before date of food products. He has further advised the consumers to check the dates before purchase.
