Dimapur, Jan. 2: The 45th annual session of Baimho Students’ Union (BSU) was held at Baimho village from December 28- 30, with Andrew Ahoto, chairman cum principal of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural programme of the three-day sessions, chief guest called upon the community to remain united to usher in the development of the region instead of indulging in money based and cheap vote-bank politics. He also urged upon the gathering to choose a candidate on the basis of his merit so that he would work for the benefit of the people and bring development. Speaking on the sidelines of skill-management, he remarked that a society without skill will ultimately kill the society itself. He was of the view that education should not only be knowledge based but should also be skill based so that every individual gets a fair opportunity of contributing in the development of one’s community.
After the inaugural programme, volleyball match was played between Baimho Sports Association and Baimho Students’ Union. The session was also marked by special display of traditional games like Ami Kukla, Shalupa Kiche, Angu Kupusu and Kupxa Kuxu.
Meanwhile, Baimho Students’ Union expressed its immense gratitude to Andrew Ahoto for gracing the occasion and also expressed happiness and gratitude to his family including his in-laws for attending the function. BSU further acknowledged every individual and organization for making the session a successful one.
The inaugural programme was led by Ato M. Chophy, vice-president of BSU, invocation prayer was said by Ikatoli, women co-ordinator, welcome speech was delivered by Pukaho N. Kiba, president of BSU, ‘Leshe’ recitation was presented by Livino Chophy while vote of thanks was proposed by Inaka A. Achumi, Games & Sports secretary of BSU.
