Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of 25th year anniversary celebration of Kiddies Corner School in Phek town, Nienu said as Christians our conduct should be base on love, kindness, compassion and forgiveness. He said only through complete forgiveness there is power of healing old wounds. Nienu said our desire and thirst for peace and reconciliation should take over our thirst for bloodshed, hatred and revenge. In a oblique reference to the recent social upheaval, Nienu said as leaders, one should always take responsibility for any regretful incidents. He regretted that the 12th Assembly would go down in the annals of history as the most disturbing times of Nagaland. He said the little time we have should be judiciously used to promote peace, humility and oneness to strengthen Naga brotherhood. He said, “Leaders cannot be nearsighted and live for the moment alone but as leaders, we have to be farsighted enough to see beyond tribes and parties.’ ‘Governments and parties will come and go, but Nagas as a people are here to stay and therefore we have to rise up above tribalism, parochialism or individualism to thrive as brothers,’ Nienu asserted. ‘Our world is truly magical and can be a heavenly abode when there is love and respect in your hearts, but this world can be a living hell too when our hearts are infiltrated with hatred and jealousy,” Nienu said. Commemorating 25 years of existence of Kiddies Corner School, he thanked the pioneers for starting a school when it was needed most and for the immense contributions it has given towards the society through the education. Without private schools, Nagaland would not have achieved what it has today, he said and further encouraged the initiative of setting up good private schools, educational institutions and colleges in Nagaland in the near future as these have become the strongest pillars of human resources development. While congratulating the new chief minister, Dr. Surhozelie, he expressed belief that education system will surely improve in the days to come under his leadership as he is a stalwart in the field of education. The programme was chaired by Kuthovo, while invocation prayer was led by Thupuchi Khesoh, pastor PTBC, and welcome address was delivered by Vekhozo Khamo, chairman KCS.
