Kigwema, June 8 (EMN): AYO Miavimia Badze, a resting place for ‘chosen volunteers’ of the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO), which was constructed at Tekwe-azou, above Japfü Christian College in Kigwema village, has been inaugurated. The place was inaugurated on Wednesday evening by Pelesielie Khezhie, PRO to Chief Minister.
Tekwe-azou is located in the foothill of Mount Japfü Peak. It is a place where Angami youth leaders met in 1991 and formed the AYO under the leadership of late Shürhiu Savino.
Mention be made that the AYO 25th anniversary celebration was also held last year in November here at Kigwema village, while the AYO Miavimia Badze was constructed by the Kigwema Youth Organisation with the consent of AYO to remember the leadership and sacrifices of AYO pioneers and the chosen volunteers, informed Medo Yhokha, former president of AYO.
Then in 1991, some of the Angami youths responded to the call of the Angami Public Organisation (APO) in serving as ‘chosen volunteers’ to safeguard the rights of the Angamis and also to protect the land and its people, it was informed.
Speaking at the function, PRO to Chief Minister Pelesielie Khezhie, who was also once an AYO instructor, lauded the efforts of the AYO volunteers for rendering their best for the Angami people.
He also appreciated the KYO for coming up with the idea to construct the resting place and also for donating the land.
“This is the place where AYO was formed and so let this place unite us further,” he said.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Er Vikho-o Yhoshü, in his address encouraged the AYO members to take responsibility in leading the Nagas, particularly the Angami people towards greater heights.
AYO President Neinguvotuo Krose lauded the AYO pioneers and volunteers for their leadership and selfless sacrifices.
Speaking on behalf of the volunteers, Sakho Tsükrü thanked the AYO and KYO for remembering the efforts of AYO volunteers in a special way, while he also thanked all the chosen volunteers who rendered their best for the Angamis.
