Kohima, Oct. 9 ( EMN ): Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) defeated Angami Students’ Union (ASU) 4-2 in the exhibition match played as part of the ongoing 20th NSF Martyrs’ Trophy at Khuociezie local ground on Wednesday in Kohima.
During the match, AYO took the lead through Keyhoviu in the 27th minute followed by Metekhrielie in the 32nd minute.
In retaliation, the organisers of the trophy, ASU equalised the score line through Kholie Khate in the 37th and 69th minutes respectively.
However, Pete of ASU committed a big mistake during the second half by scoring an own goal to give AYO the lead. The scoreboard stood 4-2 in favour of AYO after the final whistle as they sealed the game with Seyie scoring in the 78th minute through an assist from Neibu Sechü.
The intention beyond the exhibition match was to bring Angami people together from both the fraternity. Mhiesizokho Zinyü, former AYO president, attended the exhibition match as the patron.
He said that Angamis have been shouldering important responsibilities towards ‘the land’. Zinyü asserted that the present scenario of Nagaland demands the people to take bigger responsibilities and task ahead. At such a juncture, he said, it was encouraging to see active youth frontal organisations like ASU and AYO taking proactive role in upholding the responsibility of the community. He further hoped for a fun-filled match and conveyed his best wishes to the players .
