Mokokchung, Oct. 2 (EMN): The district level centre for women - Mahila Shakti Kendra and Sakhi one-stop Centre in Mokokchung conducted a seminar on violence against women and children for Anganwadi workers of Ongpangkong north, on Wednesday at the Circuit House in Mokokchung.
The resource person was Moamenla Longkumer, women welfare officer of Mokokchung.
She spoke to the gathering about different forms of violence against women and children and its effect on mental health.
“Though Nagaland is considered as one of the safest places for women in India there are many crimes that go unreported due to the stigma attached to it and the character assassination of the victim,” Longkumer claimed.
She urged the women to be bold and stand up for their rights when such a situation occurs.
She also sensitised the anganwadi worker on different services provided for the women in case of emergency which are Women helpline 181, Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Legal aid services, counselling services and different helpline numbers which will be available 22x7 for the welfare of women.
Government Schemes/programmes, training and capacity building for the empowerment of women was also discussed during the event.

Similarly, a seminar about violence against women and children was conducted by the Peren district administrations in collaboration with the Sakhi-one Stop Centre and the Mahila Shakti Kendra, in Jalukie town.

According to a press release that was received here on Wednesday, Asuni, a penal lawyer of the district legal services authority spoke about the thematic topic of the program. Lungngaulie, district coordinator for the Mahila Shakti Kendra, gave a brief highlight about the work of the Mahila Shakti Kendra, the updates stated.
Likewise, Peheilusile Haisobe, a case worker of Sakhi-One Stop Centre, highlighted the work of the Sakhi while Ibamsile Dwaswang, centre coordinator of Childline, gave a brief highlight about the helpline, it said.
Around 300 participants attended the program, the statement read.
