Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): To promote girl’s education and create awareness on various helpline services available, Peren district administration in collaboration with district-level Centre for Women-MSK organised an awareness programme under Beti Bacha Beti Padhao (BBBP) on October 25 at Government Middle School Sector ‘C’ and Kiriath Jearim Mission School Samziuram, Jalukie, to mark the completion of 1st year anniversary of BBBP-Peren district.
An update from DIPR informed that district coordinator-MSK, Lungngaulie stressed on BBBP, OSC and POCSO Act 2012 besides speaking on the importance of education for every girl child during her address to the gathering.
District coordinator-MSK, Kiziupeululie also spoke on Women Helpline-181 and Child Helpline-1098, which is an emergency 24x7 national toll free helpline service to address issues related to children and women who are abused and are in need of protection and attention. She urged women and children to make use of the helpline services in times of distress.
Meanwhile, Peren district administration also organised a sensitisation programme for ASHAs and Anganwadi workers in collaboration with district-level Centre for women-MSK at Tening town with medical officer of PHC Tening, Dr. Nuksung as the resource person. The update informed that the resource person spoke on institutional deliveries, birth registration and women-centric schemes.
Women Welfare Officer (MSK), Heiriateilie also briefed the participants about the roles and functions of BBBP and MSK before a discussion programme was held for ASHAs and Anganwadi workers.
