Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region organized an awareness programme on role of weather based Agromet Advisory Services for the development of Agriculture & Allied Sectors in Nagaland with the Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS) project, on April 6 at Jotsoma village.
Imtisenla Walling, Technical Officer, GKMS project, briefed the objective of the programme and the project. She highlighted the importance of Agromet Advisory Services of GKMS project and role in providing location specific Agri-Advisory services to the farmers.
Jyotish Barman, Scientist ICAR highlighted the challenges faced by the fisheries farmers in the changing climate scenario and stressed on the need to improve fish farming by adopting improved practices. He also discussed the ways to enhance the productivity of traditional paddy cum fish farming. Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, SMS, KVK Dimapur, informed the farmers about the effects of climate changes on livestock farmers in the changing climate scenario. She stressed on the need to improve livestock and poultry farmers by adopting improved breeds.
Romen Sharma, Scientist ICAR insisted the farmers to take advantages of the mobile SMS services for better planning of their agricultural operations. He also gave detailed information about the role of ICAR, Nagaland Centre for the development of agriculture in the state and encouraged the farmers to take advantage of services available at ICAR.
