- WOKHA — The MSME
Development and Facilitation Office, Dimapur, in association with the
department of Industries and Commerce and the district administration,
organised a one-day awareness-cum-GP onboarding camp on PM Vishwakarma scheme
on Thursday at the DC’s conference hall in Wokha town.
- The awareness programme was attended by village council
chairmen (VCC) from Wokha, Chukitong and Wozhuro blocks.
- Addressing the gathering, the deputy commissioner (DC) of
Wokha, Vineet Kumar, stated that PM Vishwakarma scheme was introduced by the
Government of India to recognise artisans and craftspeople across various
trades and provide skill upgradation through suitable training opportunities.
- Emphasising the importance of applicant verification, DC
urged the council chairmen to select and recommend genuine applicants and
beneficiaries to maximise community benefits from the scheme.

Vishwakarma (PMU), briefed the participants on the guidelines for implementing
the scheme. She informed that the identified traditional trades for
beneficiaries included boat makers, armourers, blacksmith, hammer and toolkit
makers, locksmith, sculptors, goldsmith, basket/mat/broom/coir weaving,
cobblers, potter, doll and toy makers, garland makers, barbers, fishing net
makers and washermen.
- Victoria also instructed the beneficiaries/ applicants to
complete onboarding in coordination with the district implementing committee by
providing verified Aadhar-seeded names and mobile numbers to be uploaded on the
eGramswaraj portal.
- Later in the day, the deputy commissioner handed over
toolkits to five beneficiaries, who have undergone training in carpentry.
