Dimapur, March 5 (EMN): Yimkűmmer Welfare Society (YWS), in collaboration with the department of Social Welfare, organised a one-day awareness seminar on ‘Drug abuse prevention’ at Yimkűmmer House in Tuli under Mokokchung district on March 3 with Imsongmeren, ADC (Tuli) as the guest speaker and Maong Jamir, social worker and author, as resource speaker.
An update from the society stated that the purpose of organising the seminar was to sensitise and create awareness about the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders on drug abuse and to share information on primary prevention. The topics included “Issues related to drug abuse and alcoholism” and “Basics on drug abuse and alcoholism.”
It stated that valuable inputs on the subject were also contributed by Sanen, youth mission programme coordinator from Kohima, and Kilang Imsong, residential counsellor of Grace Rehabilitation Home in Tuli.
The seminar was attended by SDPO (Tuli), all ward chairmen and representatives from 11 wards of Tuli town, pastors of Tuli Lenten Baptist Church, Aitlenden Baptist Church, Luyong Baptist Church besides youth and adolescence group from several churches led by youth pastors.
