Awareness camp on PM Vishwakarma held in Chessore

  • DIMAPUR — Under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Dimapur, in association with the Department of Industries and Commerce and district administration organised a one-day awareness camp on PM Vishwakarma on Thursday at Chessore village council hall under Shamator district.

  • During the programme, the inspector of District Industries Centre (DIC), Tuensang, Thungdi Chang, oriented the audience on the scheme and talked about various other initiatives under the department. It was followed by a presentation on the scheme by the State PMU, PM Vishwakarma.

  • According to a DIPR report, the objective of the camp was to create on-ground awareness of the scheme, onboard the village onto the PMV portal and enroll artisans.

  • It stated that a large number of artisans applied for correction in their Aadhaar such as seeding of their mobile number, change in residential address and addition of their father’s name.

  • It mentioned that under the PMV scheme, it is mandatory for an artisan to have the following details corrected on their Aadhaar.

  • The PM Vishwakarma Scheme was launched by the Government of India on September 17, 2023 to support traditional artisans and craftspeople, collectively known as Vishwakarmas. The scheme aims to upskill artisans in their chosen trade through access to high quality training, upgraded tools and access to collateral free credit.

  • The 18 identified trades under the scheme are carpenter, goldsmith, potter, barber, cobbler, sculptor, tailor, washerman, boat maker, mason, armourer, blacksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, stone breaker, basket/ mat/ broom maker/ coir weaver, doll and toy maker, garland maker, fishing net maker.

  • Currently, the trades in carpentry, masonry and tailoring are on halt at the centre.

  • PM Vishwakarma scheme camp in Longleng

  • The deputy commissioner (DC) of Longleng, W Manpai Phom, has informed that awareness-cum-GP onboarding camp on the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme for Longleng district would be conducted on February 19 and 20.

  • In this regard, he has requested all the village council chairmen (VCC), village council members (VCM), village development board (VDB) secretaries, artisans, and ward representatives to attend the camp at the DC’s office in Longleng.

  • The camp for Longleng Sardar, Yongnyah block, Yachem block and Sakshi block would be held on February 19, while the camp for Tamlu block and Buranamsang block would be held at the ADC’s office in Tamlu town on February 20.
