As the major festivals in our state approach, we may need to discern ourselves about traffic-related calamities that imperil us. A common anxiety that haunts almost every home is whether our children reach home safely after visiting friends, partying or witnessing talent shows etc. during this festive season.
The ever-increasing number of vehicles that have crammed our narrow roads has become more obstructive. A smooth flow of traffic is very often disrupted by careless speeding two wheelers. These dare-devil drivers not only endanger their own lives but also pedestrians, especially children and innocent villagers who come from different corners of the state.
Concerned associations such as ANTA, two-wheeler association, etc. should tell their members not to overtake when there is consistent flow of traffic. The RTOs are also expected to meticulously monitor the process of issuing driving licenses to individuals.
There is an urgent need for the Department of Road and Bridges to address the filling of potholes and puddles on the roads. The district administration and relevant authority are expected to introduce contra flows during this festive season for the safety and convenience of both tourists as well as general public.
To preserve the sanctity of this Christian state, let us rationalize our beverages whether local or foreign, so that our guests lay a memorable account of their experience in the state when they go home.
