Kohima, Oct. 5 (EMN): A three-day autumn gospel camp for students organised by Ministers' Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School (MHBHSS) concluded on October 5 in Kohima on the theme "For without me you can do nothing" (John 15:5).
Speaking on the topic "family matters" during a devotional session at Ministers' Hill Baptist Church, Dr. Buno Iralu stated that with the fast changing world parents have become too busy and failed to understand the needs of the "children who are gifts from God."
Stating that there is no institute to implement any awareness training on parenting, she remarked that parents are lacking etiquette in their roles while "making mistakes" and unable to even give due praises and encouragement to their children. Iralu, therefore, emphasised on the need to dedicate time to youngsters and lead them by examples, while imparting them the right ways and knowledge to grow up.
"Family is God's own idea and has been ordained by Him," she said, adding the same should be a place of "security and safety."
Stating that God's plan for family is to "live together," she reminded the young ones on how they could be a source of blessings by bringing peace and healing to their family.
"God uses children to bring back change in their families," she added.
During a lively recreational event "I care," conducted by Vileno (Avino) Tase, campers were made friends by remembering the birth month, names and tribes of one another in their respective groups.
The students were also made to describe their school in one word while reading out things they like about themselves and those they wished to change in their lives through the notes jotted down on their own portraits during the activity.
Other highlights of the camp included group meeting and prayer, praise and worship, group discussion and presentation.
Dr. Kethoser Kevichusa and pastor Neino Zhotso also spoke during the three-day camp attended by students numbering around 300.
The campers were divided into 6 groups namely Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Faithfulness and Goodness, the names of which were derived from Galatians 5: 22- 23 (Fruit of the Spirit).
The camp was organised for the higher secondary students with an intention to provide an opportunity for discipleship as well as to renew their spiritual life, while motivating them to do well in studies and to know their duties to have a successful and productive life.
