Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): In a delayed report, an autorickshaw driver was killed on Wednesday night in an accident that occurred at Half Nagarjan, Dimapur at around 7.30 pm. As per Dimapur Traffic Police Zone 1 officer-in charge Mhathung Patton, one Bolero Pick up (AS 09 AC 1493) heading towards town collided with an autorickshaw (NL07 F 5006) killing the autorickshaw driver on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Murari Mondal, 45 years old, and the accused driver identified as Anil. The Bolero pickup driver was driving at high speed on the wrong side of the road under the influence of alcohol and the deceased was also under the influence of alcohol, reported the police. Police said the accused driver was arrested and kept under the custody of East Police Station Dimapur on Wednesday night and forwarded to the court on Thursday. A case has been registered under IPC section 279, 337 338, 427 and 304 (a) in this connection, reported the OC.
