Diphu, Aug 7 (EMN): The Assam University Diphu Campus Students Union (AUDCSU) has condemned the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Assam for uploading a post on their Facebook 'ABVP Assam,' regarding the recently concluded AUDCSU election.
The ABVP Assam unit in the post claimed that all the major posts in recent Assam University Diphu Campus election was won by ABVP including the president, general secretary and cultural secretary.
Addressing a press conference held at Cafeteria Restaurant on August 6, AUDCSU president, Sarhabe Kro, clarified that AUDCSU did not contest the election under any banner and that the union “strongly condemns” the unethical post on Facebook, which claimed that the elected members of AUDCSU were members of ABVP.
“AUDCSU assures that they will always work for the betterment, unity, and integrity of the campus and assured that no external forces will be allowed to enter the campus. We will welcome all the guests but we won't entertain this type of interference on the university campus,” Kro said.
Narrating the sequence of events, AUDCSU assistant general secretary, Homsera Ronghangpi, said, that right after the oath-taking ceremony on August 3, they were told by pro vice chancellor Prof. Sivasis Biswas to go to the conference hall meet a guest who introduced himself name as Niraj, a student leader at Assam University, Silchar.
“He briefed us about ABVP history to us. He initially told us that we were considered ABVP members, and we were shocked after hearing that and we responded to him and told him that we were not a part of any organization and we are not going to take part in any external forces in the near future,” Ronghangpi said.
Ronghangpi also clarified that the union was not going to involve itself in any political party and added, “we are standing for the welfare of the Assam University Diphu Campus and we are not playing politics as we are taking the responsibility for the University. We are not going to entertain any external forces in our institute and the institute should be the institute, it should not be polluted by any social organization it should be a fair institute.”
The press conference was attended by AUDCSU general secretary Samson Sing Engti, assistant general secretary, Sarbinong Teron, vice president, Rangsina Enghi, culture secretary, Rangsina Kro and sports secretary, Tanson Taro.
