This was stated in an update from the president of Atoizu Area GBs’ Association. In his speech, Picto spoke on the theme, “Reconciliation and Protection” and said that it could be brought by the people themselves and not by any other people. Er. Picto encouraged the GB’s to lead the people in doing good for the society. He also highlighted on some of the developmental activities brought to the area and appealed the local people to cooperate with the government for progress and development of the area. Er. Picto also urged the players to exhibit sportsmanship spirit and set example for others to follow. He spoke on the effects of indulging in intoxicants by sports persons and advised them against such indulgence. Er. Picto also took the example of a local football player of the area, Tsaikha, who even after attaining 100 years of age was still active since he desisted from using intoxicants. He reminded the people about famous international footballers like Dr. T. Ao and Pele and urged the young players to try to be in their footsteps by exhibiting true sportsmanship spirit. He expressed the hope that peace, unity and brotherhood would be ushered in through the trophy. Later, the special guest kicked off a football declaring the trophy open. Altogether, 15 villages are participating in the trophy; football for boys and volleyball for girls. The trophy will culminate on Feb. 8.
