Ato Area Sports Association meet concludes

Zheshito Swu, president Western Sumi Hoho who attended the closing ceremony as the guest of honor gave away the prizes to the winners. Zheshito pointed out that society needs collective effort of all concerned to overall progress of the people and, sports is one medium through which togetherness and development can be brought into the community. He reminded the sportspeople that there are maximum avenues and privileges them and therefore one has to work hard excel and avail the facilities provided by the government for sportspersons. Speaking on the occasion AASA President Kaviho Yepthomi acknowledged support and contribution of all concerned that made the event a successful one. Loyir village outplayed Nikhekhu village via tiebreaker to retain the 33rd GBs Football Trophy while Hozukhe village finished third. Dilo of Loyir was declared at player of the tournament and Abel of Hozukhe village emerged as the highest scorer. Akiho of Hozukhe and Kiyika of Toshiho were named best defender and best goal keeper respectively. In the 30th Nikhekhu and N. Yihoto Zhimo Memorial Volleyball Trophy (men & women) Viheto village lifted the men's title followed by Sukhato and Loyir in the second and third place. Shikaho of Viheto was named the best player. In women's event, Nikhekhu emerged as the champions with Nighakhu and Hozukhe finishing in second and third spot. Aholi of Nikhekhu bagged the best player award in women's volleyball. Viheto village also lifted the men's event of 5th Shekuto Suu Memorial Badminton Trophy while Loyir and Nighakhu stood as 1st and 2nd runners-up. Okito Chishi of Viheto was named the best shuttler. Nikhekhu lifted the women's trophy by getting the better of 1st runners-up Loyir and 2nd runners-up Nighakhu. Rosy of Nikhekhu was declared the best women shuttler. Nihokhu team bagged the best disciplined team award.
