Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): ATMA Longchem Block conducted field day on soil conservation at Changdang village on June 28, where 20 beneficiaries attended the programme.
ATMA by Nungtisang Aier (BTM), explained to the farmers on importance of soil conservation in jhum field with the help of visual aids and booklets.
Resource person, Pangerkumba, Soil Conservation Assistant, Department of Soil, Mangkolemba, explained on various techniques and methods of soil conservation. Farmers were also taught on how to construct contour bunding by using A-frame technique. He also stressed on preserving soil and water. Further, he encouraged the farmers to go for integrating scientific methods.
ATMA Phek conducted training and demonstration program under Kikruma and Chetheba Basa village block, on June 1 and 2 respectively.
Resource persons-SDAO & BTT convener Kikruma block, Imtilepzuk and BTM Keduweteü Lomi covered topics such as scope of floriculture as a business enterprise, rodent management and packages and practices for maize cultivation.
Demonstration on making detergent powder and liquid dish wash and also propagation method of flowering plants were imparted top the participants.
Raw materials for liquid dish wash and detergent making, maize seeds (HQPM-5 and 7 varieties), roban and polybags for nursery were distributed to 47 farmers who attended the programme.
