DIMAPUR — The Agricultural Technology
Management Agency (ATMA), Zunheboto, Tokiye block, organised Kisan Gosthi and
demonstration programme on May 17.
The event was conducted in convergence with the Department
of Horticulture at Viyilho village under Tokiye block, an update stated.
Resource person Nusakho Nyekha, horticulture extension
assistant (HEA), taught the farmers, through hands-on demonstration, about the
technical knowledge of cultivation practices like selection of best suited
banana cultivars, time of planting, planting techniques, proper pit preparation
including soil amendment and drainage, optimal spacing between plants and rows,
propagations material and pest and diseases management.
Kivibo Achumi, ATM, shared about the importance of banana
cultivation in Nagaland and its potential for income generation. Inputs such as
bio-fertilisers, disease free planting material and bio-control agents were
distributed among the farmers. A total of 18 farmers attended the programme.
