DIMAPUR — The Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Suruhuto block, Zunheboto, conducted a demonstration on value addition for chilli pickles at Khuniho village on August 17, with Linoto, assistant technology manager (ATM), as the resource person.
According to a press release, she explained the process and precautions to be taken and further emphasised the importance and benefits of pickle making. She talked about the importance of pickle making due to the high consumption of pickles in Nagaland and their significant market value.
On August 19, a demonstration on no-dig square foot gardening was given by block technology manager (BTM) Moanenla at Kholeboto village. She explained the importance and benefits of implementing this method, which involves creating a good growing foundation with minimal disturbance to the existing soil.
Another demonstration on organic broccoli production was conducted by Ika, ATM, as the resource person. He provided a hands-on demonstration on the sowing method and the required spacing for the plant, encouraging farmers to practice proper nutrient management and clean cultivation.
An interactive session was held, during which seeds and organic manure were distributed to all the participants. SHGs, farmers’ friends, progressive farmers, and ATMA functionaries attended the programme.
Meanwhile, on August 17, ATMA Tsarü block conducted demonstrations at Trongar village, Tuensang.
A press release stated that a demonstration on quality management in food processing and packaging was presented by Dr. T. Arenmongla as the resource person. During the session, beneficiaries were educated on the importance of quality management in the value-adding process of agricultural products.
This was followed by a hands-on demonstration on the value addition of various vegetables (ginger, chilli, and garlic) by Tiyongnaro, ATM Tsarü.
A total of 15 beneficiaries attended the programme.
