DIMAPUR — Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Longleng conducted a series of programmes across Longleng, Sakshi and Tamlu blocks in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng from February 23 to the 28th.
The programmes were organised under the leadership and guidance of H Mhonthung Merry, ATMA Deputy Project Director, and Dr. Hari Charan Kalita, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK Longleng, along with Shubhendu Kumar Behera, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Pathology), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-KVK Longleng.
The series of activities included a farmer–scientist interaction, a joint field visit, a farmer exposure tour, and the distribution of five farmer awards to progressive farmers from Longleng, Sakshi, and Tamlu blocks, according to a press release.

These initiatives were aimed at strengthening the linkage between farmers and scientists, promoting the exchange of innovative agricultural practices, and encouraging the adoption of improved and sustainable farming technologies.
During the interactive sessions, farmers actively engaged with subject matter specialists, shared their field-level experiences, and clarified technical queries to enhance productivity and sustainability in agriculture.
In addition, a Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme was organised for 30 rural youths from three villages under the Longleng and Tamlu blocks.
The training focused on value addition of horticultural crops, providing hands-on practical knowledge and skill development to promote entrepreneurship and improve income generation among rural youth.
