Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): The Agriculture Technology Management Agency of Jakhama block organised ‘Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas,’ a farmers’ welfare workshop at Kigwema’s Village Council hall on the May 2.
Special guest of the programme, director of Agriculture, G Ikuto Zhimomi highlighted the objectives of the workshop and also proposed strategies on doubling of farmers income’ by 2022.
Zhimomi said that the utility of mobile app of ‘Naga Farm Doctor’ for farmer which was recently launched by the Nagaland government will help the local farmers identify issues on various crop diseases and pests related to their agricultural produce. He explained that users of the app can get assistance by submitting their queries through the app. The app shows pictures of the diseases and pests whereby the farmers can identify various diseases and pests infesting a particular crop or plant, he informed.The farmers were encouraged to install the app to impart various queries and assistance from the experts.
Out of the 13 nominated progressive farmers for award 2017-2018 from various allied departments, Zakieho Lüho (plant propagator) from Khuzama village was awarded as one of the Best Farmer under Jakhama block.
Two of the technical officer, Ziete and Keviyieno Zhasa spoke on the latest technology practices available for increasing farm income and farm production. They educated farmers with various government schemes for the development of economic and social structure of the farmers.
The function was followed by animal health camp where 25 dogs were vaccinated and treatment of some animals was undertaken. About 104 participants from 10 villages under Jakhama Block and allied departments attended the programme.
The same programme under the theme “Doubling farmer’s income by 2022” was conducted on May 2 at Ghathashi block under Zunheboto district. Update frecieved from DPRO on Friday informed.
The extra assistant commissioner of Ghathashi, Nuhuta attended the programme as the chief guest. In hos address, he encouraged the youth to generate agricultural based business as it will help them boost up their livelihood and the state economy as well.
