ATMA conducts training on pig farming

Agricultural Technology Management Authority (ATMA) under Zunheboto district conducted a six-day skill training of rural youth (STRY) on pig rearing and management in Lochomi village from January 28 to February 3.

The training was conducted under the sub-mission on agricultural extension (SMAE) of National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, government of India.

An update from ATMA Zunheboto stated that Dr. Gwazenlo Tep, VAS of Atoizu and farm manager of CRF Zunheboto as well as BTT convener of ATMA Zunheboto block, was the resource person.

It stated that topics covered during the skill training included bio-security measures in pig farming, housing system, common diseases of pigs, care and management, vaccination, de-worming, feeds and feeding management, castration in field condition, economics for profitable pig farming, importance of pig selection, breeds and FCR comparison.

Altogether, 15 rural youth have actively participated in the training. The participants were awarded with certificates and input materials and piglets.

It informed that Tokato Zhimomi, deputy project director of ATMA Zunheboto, was the course director.
