ATMA Kiphire holds Kisan Gosthi and farm trainings in Pungro block using Krishi Mapper App.

DIMAPUR — The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kiphire under Pungro block, conducted a series of Kisan Gosthi, capacity-building training-cum-demonstrations on agriculture and allied sectors, along with the utilisation of the newly introduced geo-tagging feature through the Krishi Mapper App.
According to a DIPR report, the initiative is part of a broader effort to digitise and collect data on farmland where crop demonstrations are carried out for farmers across the state.
The Kisan Gosthi, focusing on the theme “Integrated farming system: enhancing productivity and livelihood of marginal farmers,” was held at Pungro on February 24.
Training sessions on fishery pond management and goatry farm management were conducted at Iponger and New Vongti villages on February 25 and the 26th respectively, while demonstrations highlighted improved vegetable cultivation practices.

Further capacity-building programmes on oyster mushroom production technology, along with training on leadership strengthening, record maintenance, and bookkeeping, were conducted at Pungro village and Thetowong village on February 27 and the 28th.
The programme was chaired by BTM Moanaro I Ao and ATM Merennungba Imchen, with AI Omega and BTT convenor M. Yochung, senior VFA, serving as resource persons.
During the sessions, the resource persons stressed the importance of preserving indigenous seeds, improving traditional farming methods, reducing chemical usage, and promoting the use of bio-fertilisers and organic pest control practices.
Additionally, Farm School, Food Security Group (FSG), and Seed Money (SM) initiatives were launched during the programme.
The training programme covered farmers from Pungro, Iponger, Thetowong, and New Vongti villages from February 24 to the 28th.
