District Farmers Award programme-cum-Kisan Ghosthies sales day held in Chümoukedima to honour progressive farmers.

DIMAPUR — The District Farmers Award programme-cum-Kisan Ghosthies sales day was organised by ATMA Chümoukedima at the DAO’s office on March 26.
The event was held with the objective of recognising the contribution of progressive farmers and promoting direct marketing opportunities for local agricultural produce, an update stated.
The programme was attended by Dr. Phool Kumari, senior scientist and head, KVK Dimapur, as the special guest, who appreciated the efforts of farmers in adopting innovative and sustainable agricultural practices.
In her address, she encouraged the farmers to continue embracing modern technologies and emphasised the importance of resilience and knowledge sharing in strengthening the agricultural sector.

Moainla Pongen, district agriculture officer and PD ATMA Chümoukedima, highlighted the objective of the programme, which is to motivate and acknowledge farmers who have demonstrated excellence, innovation and leadership in agriculture and allied activities.
The event witnessed the presence of officials from various agriculture and allied departments, including representatives from Horticulture, Fisheries, Sericulture, KVK, Soil & Water Conservation and LRD.
Their participation reflected the collaborative efforts of different departments in promoting holistic agricultural development in the district.
During the programme, five progressive farmers received the District Farmers Award namely, Letthag Misao from Molvom Village, Vilhuca Thou from Chümoukedima Village, Alemla Samuel from Naga United Village, Brosoilo Thousen from Amaluma Village, and Thangsring Hasnu from Dhansiripar Village.
Each awardee received a certificate of appreciation along with incentives in recognition of their dedication and contribution to the agriculture and allied sector.
Alongside the award ceremony, the Kisan Ghosthies sales day provided a platform for farmers to showcase and sell their farm produce directly to consumers.
A variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, value-added products, handicrafts and local specialties were displayed for sale.
The officials from ATMA stated that such programmes are important in empowering farmers, enhancing income and promoting agribusiness opportunities in the district.
They also highlighted the role of ATMA in providing continuous support through training, capacity building and exposure to modern agricultural technologies.
The event concluded with appreciation for all participation and reaffirmation of commitment towards the growth and development of the agricultural sector in Chümoukedima district.
